Season Review
The BYU women’s tennis team ended the 2019-20 campaign with an 8-3 record in regular-season play while also competing in several fall tournaments.
BYU was coming off a 4-3 home win over Arizona and was scheduled to open up West Coast Conference action hosting St. Mary's on March 14 when the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“First off, we are hoping our fans and Cougar family are safe and healthy during these unpredictable times,” BYU head coach Holly Parkinson Hasler said. "The last few weeks have been difficult, but if there is one thing we learned as a team this past year, it's that we can get through anything together. The girls have so much to be proud of. While it was an unfortunate ending, we were able to see tremendous growth towards what our program is becoming.
“We want to thank our players, staff, athletic department and fans for their continuous support. The future of BYU women's tennis is bright and I am grateful and excited to be a part of it."
BYU claimed eight wins in dual-match play, including decisive victories over Utah State, Grand Canyon, Houston and Arizona. In their biggest upset of the season, the Cougars beat No. 33 Denver 4-3 at home.
BYU also recorded victories over Weber State and Idaho while going 3-1 at home and 4-2 on the road.
