In addition to team success, a plethora of BYU student-athletes and coaches were honored for their outstanding performances this season, including two national award winners. Lists of this year's national awardees, All-America recognitions and conference honorees are below.

Gabi Garcia Fernandez

AVCA Player of the Year

A junior from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabi Garcia Fernandez was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year. In the midst of an incredible junior campaign that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Garcia Fernandez averaged 5.46 points per set and .918 aces per set to lead the NCAA in both categories. The versatile star also ranked 11th in kills per set (4.00), 19th in blocks per set (1.00), 23rd in attacks per set (7.98) and 25th in hitting percentage (.343). Even with six regular-season matches and the postseason canceled, Garcia Fernandez still managed to tally 56 aces to break the BYU single-season aces record. Named an All-American for the third-straight season, the junior was also tabbed MPSF Player of the Year after leading the Cougars to a 17-1 overall record, 6-0 conference record and a No. 1 final national ranking.

Ed Eyestone

USTFCCCA Coach of the Year

In his 20th season as head coach at BYU, Ed Eyestone guided the men’s cross country team to its first national championship in program history, becoming the first person in NCAA cross country history to win an individual title (1984) and coach a team to win a national championship. For his efforts, Eyestone was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Coach of the Year, joining Sherald James (1993) as the only two BYU men’s cross country coaches to win the award. The Cougars also won their fifth-straight West Coast Conference title and seventh in eight years behind three All-Americans, five All-Region performers and eight All-WCC athletes.
